Winterbourne are a competitve basketball team playing in Division 1 of the West of England basketball Association league.

With only a few games left to play we are contending for a 3rd placed position in the league; one up on last year.

Strong start to the Cup
Having won our last game against Totterdown we are now through to the 2nd round of the Cup competition and looking forward to our next game.

We still have room on the squad for a small number or new players so, if you're interested, please come along and meet us.

We are looking for:

Players with a level of skill who can play at 1st Div standard.

Players who have an unselfish approach and will put winning as a team ahead of personal glory.

Players who are prepared to work hard, be committed to regular training, and give 100% on court.

On 9th of November, one of our players, Steve Ashton collapsed during a home game at Winterbourne International Academy.  Steve was taken to Frenchay Hospital where, unfortunately, he passed away soon after arrival.

Steve was well known in the local basketball community, having been playing in the Bristol area for more than fifteen years. He only joined Winterbourne in the summer of this year. Consequently we knew him little but the little we knew, we liked immensely. Steve was a friendly, experienced, unselfish player who quickly became an integral part of the team.

We are all devastated to lose Steve in this way but our thoughts are chiefly with his wife and young family at this time who’s loss is so much more profound than our own.
