Winterbourne are a competitive basketball team playing in Division 1 of the West of England basketball Association league.

League Standing.
With the season now over we have gained a 3rd position in the league. This is one place up on last year and was our season goal.

Summer league.

We are entering the Filton Summer league again this year so if you think that you'd like to be a part of our team, this is the perfect time to get involved.

The summer league is informal and is run for fun rather than with any overriding competitive edge. This means that we can afford to give equal minutes to all our players and so it's a great opportunity to come along and see if you like the way we play. Next season

If you'd like to be part of the team for next season then, to understand what's involved and to get an idea of how we approach things, please read our Principles of Participation.

We are looking for:

Players with a level of skill who can play at 1st Div standard.

Players who have an unselfish approach and will put winning as a team ahead of personal glory.

Players who are prepared to work hard, be committed to regular training, and give 100% on court.

On 9th of November 2010, one of our players, Steve Ashton collapsed during a home game at Winterbourne International Academy.  Steve was taken to Frenchay Hospital where, unfortunately, he passed away soon after arrival.

Steve was well known in the local basketball community, having been playing in the Bristol area for more than fifteen years. He only joined Winterbourne in the summer of this year. Consequently we knew him little but the little we knew, we liked immensely. Steve was a friendly, experienced, unselfish player who quickly became an integral part of the team.

We are all devastated to lose Steve in this way but our thoughts are chiefly with his wife and young family at this time who’s loss is so much more profound than our own.
